I am over the moon excited to merge my two worlds: the study of ancestral dances practices with the modern technologies of digital media.
Although I never could have imagined owning my own dance studio, it’s been a lifelong dream to create an educational platform that would help share the healing powers of these resilient dance practices.

WHAT DANCES WILL I LEARN?
You’ll learn sacred and popular cultural dance practices from the Caribbean, Cuba, and Brazil that are rooted in specific African lineages that were brought to the New World as the result of the TransAtlantic Slave Trade during the 15th Century. Today, the survival of these ancient dance practices serves as both religious and artistic expressions that are deeply woven into the fabric of each nation’s cultural identity.

I am thrilled to finally share these recordings – a project that I have been cultivating in Cuba with the professional musicians from the acclaimed company, Ballet Folklorico Cutumba specifically for this project under the new musical group name, Yemaya Ire Ache!

I live in NYC and for the last few years, I’ve benefited from having access to a plethora of options when it comes to Afro-Cuban dance classes and instructors. However, I am extremely grateful to have access to Kimberly’s on-line community where I can deepen my practice and take it to the next level. Her style of teaching is clear, concise and motivating. Her masterful use of sequencing helps students follow along easily as the steps and movements build off previous combinations. What I love most is that she takes the time out during and after class to help students make connections to how the movements relate to the folkloric traditions and historical context from which they originate. Once upon a time I was a dancer. Now I’m a business owner, health practitioner with a full practice, and an expecting first-time mom, with little free-time. Kimberly‘s classes are a Godsend! I can do these classes at home, get a workout, tap into this artform that feeds my soul, without having to fight LA traffic to get to a class. I’m quite impressed with the online experience. I’ve danced with Kimberly many times in person, and the online classes are amazingly successful at bringing that same energy right into my home. Living in a small town without a strong dance community, and traveling for work has often left me longing for quality dance classes and teachers to keep me moving and growing as a dancer. That’s why I am SO happy to be dancing with Kimberly online because I can dance from wherever I am in the world. Until recently I used to be a "private dancer"--no, not the Tina Turner kind--but the "I love to dance but only have the confidence to do it in the privacy of my own home" dancer. When I found AfroCuban dance it was like coming home for my heart, mind, body and soul. About Kimberly Miguel Mullen
Classically trained folkloric dance artist and cultural ethnologist Kimberly Miguel Mullen contributes to a legacy of performers from the Caribbean, Cuba, and Brazil. Her dance practice is rooted in ritual dance expressions from AfroCaribbean/AfroBrazilian religious systems of deities called the Orichas/Orixas. Through ongoing innovative performances, in-depth workshops, dance intensives, and trainings, Mullen expands the reach of African diasporic forms.
Mullen is among a select few artists and scholars who combine knowledge and technical excellence in ritual dance forms, culture, and histories. As the bearer of dance traditions through apprenticeship and ethnographic research, Mullen combines the influences of her training in traditional AfroCuban and AfroBrazilian dance styles with Silvestre technique to which she has devoted herself for over twenty years.
Since receiving her Master of Arts degree from UCLA’s World Arts and Cultures Department in 2005, Mullen is a seasoned University dance professor. In 2013, she completed an 8-year Professorship at Occidental College and has guest lectured at various academic institutions including: University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Loyola Marymount University, California State University of Los Angeles, Portland State University, Wesleyan College, UC Riverside, and St. Mary’s College. Mullen makes her knowledge of the healing and regenerating dimensions of dance accessible to a global audience through her teachings and her award-winning international popular dance and fitness DVDs.
She is also a leader in the field of dance ethnology for her development of culturally conscious art curricula and travel abroad immersion programs & retreats to the Caribbean, Cuba and Trinidad and Tobago, Brazil, Tulum, Nicaragua, and Bali, etc.
The Los Angeles Times has described her dancing as “spectacularly supple” since she infuses her dances with a remarkable ability to embody, interpret, and transmit the character of the archetypes of AfroCuban and AfroBrazilian deities called Orichas or Orixas. Her choreographies, based on her practice of innovative improvisation, navigate her position as a performer of orisha dance in the interstice between Cuban and Brazilian dance communities.

Are there LIVE STREAMED classes offered OR do you only offer On Demand Classes?
BOTH! The KMM Virtual Dance Studio offers both Live Classes and also on demand stream anytime classes so you can enjoy the benefits of both the live interaction and feedback as well the high quality pre-recorded video classes as well.
If I miss the LIVE Class will I be able to receive access to the replay?
YES! All of the LIVE streamed classes are recorded and archived into the studio’s portal so you can find them easily and access them as many times as you wish from wherever you are in the world.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes! There are no contracts and you may cancel at any time however, there are NO Refunds. So, if you decide to cancel, you must do so BEFORE your monthly dues are automatically charged.
If I cancel, will I be able to have access to the studio until the end of my billing cycle?
The answer is YES! If you end your membership, you will still have access to the studio until the last day of the current billing cycle. However, keep in mind that enrollment only opens a few times a year so if you want back in, you’ll have to wait until the studio doors open back up again and new membership pricing will apply.
Is it easy to cancel?
Yes! After logging into the studio’s homepage dashboard, canceling is as simple as 3-easy clicks of your mouse. Just follow the cancelation instructions listed under Membership Details or email support@kmmdancestudio.com to receive instructions on how to cancel.
What does it cost?
You can become a global member now for $35 per month and gain access to a video library of over 300+ classes. That’s unlimited amounts of dancing for less than $2 per day per month. Then, your credit card will automatically be charged every 30-days until (if ever) you decide to cancel.
Can I download the Videos?
Sorry! There is no downloading but you may stream the videos as much as your heart desires. You will need a stable WIFI connection to stream through your mobile device, computer, tablet, or television to gain access to the KMM Virtual Dance Studio.
Can I really learn AfroCuban and AfroBrazilian dance through online lessons?
ABSOLUTELY, YES! After 15 years of choreographing and creating Dance DVDs, I offer loads of experience creating fun, educational, and inspiring dance experiences for all.
Can anybody do it?
The dance classes are for everyone and everyBODY! All fitness and skill levels are welcome in the spirit of having fun! There is no experience necessary. All you have to do is follow me and I will guide you every step of the way. The classes are at your own pace so it’s up to you how much amount of energy and effort you want to put forth.
Is it affordable?
Yes, It’s Ridiculously Affordable! When you sign up, New members will have the option of joining the studio at the discounted annual one time rate of $315 (Value $420) or you may opt to pay an affordable monthly rate of $35 per month.
I am very busy….How Can I fit this into my hectic schedule?
The great thing about accessing the classes from online is that you have easy access to dancing whenever you want, wherever you are in the world. I have literally removed every obstacle standing in your way of non-stop dancing.
What device/s do I need to access the classes?
You may access the video classes from any device including a mobile phone, tablet or iPad, a desktop computer, and/or television.
Do I need a high-speed internet connection to access the classes?
For optimal streaming, you will need access to a bandwidth of at least 4 Mbps connection.
Do I need to be computer savvy to access the classes?
